Howdy there folks!
Time to continue our challenges! This week is a bit of a twist! You've got no limit on the amount of pages to do this in, but I'd suggest do more than one!
Figure draw only the clothes of people! Whatever position, attitude, height, weight, use their clothes to capture the figure-- A sort of "Invisible Man" figure drawing if you will! Go at it! This update got in a bit late, so the due date on this one is a week from today-- Friday the 23rd!
Also, for anyone who's doing the project, you don't have to upload, but I strongly encourage it-- helps me know people are actually taking the opportunity for serious, and makes me eager to pose new practices for you!
Prompts:
Dec. 3rd, 2011-- UPDATED CHALLENGES!
THE CRIT BLOG IS BACK AND IN FULL FORCE!
Love creating artwork but you can't find that extra-little push you need to get going? Looking for a community of artists to share your progress with? Want to press your foundations and aesthetic choices to the max?
Look no further! Open Crits is now a WEEKLY DESIGN CHALLENGE that will push you to get back to your foundations to enforce well-rounded drawings. All artists are welcomed, though for now the assignments will be geared more toward animation-themed work.

WEEKLY CHALLENGES! Are YOU up for the Challenge?
Howdy folks! It's been a while, hasn't it? Well-- I decided the lapse in absence and the general deterioration of the group weren't going to keep me away! So-- I'm upping the anti with challenges meant to get you folks stretching those art-muscles.
There will be sets of challenges to come, focusing on specific goals to "retrain" yourself or simply keep yourself limber, in a drawing sense. The major focus of the next few weeks will be on Life drawing, pushing drawing volume and weight in forms, and loosening up the way you draw-- Getting away from "Classical standards" than can freeze up your drawing senses.
LIFE DRAWING CHALLENGE: WEEK 1
Let's start out a little simpler, getting those muscles working. Your task: Life draw/ figure draw everyday this week, filling up at LEAST one page for each day. 3 figures a page MINIMUM.
Criteria to remember in your drawings:
IMPORTANT NOTE::: In the HEADER of your blogpost, please mark crit-welcomed posts with a "C" (crits) and non-welcomed posts with a "NC" (no-crits)
RESOURCES/ INSPIRATIONAL IMAGERY:
For those of us who ABSOLUTELY cannot get out and find a living human being Anywhere withing a 100 mile radius: http://www.pixelovely.com/gesture/index.php

Let's start out a little simpler, getting those muscles working. Your task: Life draw/ figure draw everyday this week, filling up at LEAST one page for each day. 3 figures a page MINIMUM.
Criteria to remember in your drawings:
- Full bodies
- DON'T hide hands and Feet
- DON'T draw any figure for longer than 3 minutes-- these are GESTURES
- Focus on the feeling of the pose-- Action words/verbs are great to use to get a sense.
- No "head shots" --again, Full bodies!
- Clothing is optional-- Life draw/ figure draw wherever. In class or out of Class, but no pornography.
- Allow yourself to exaggerate proportions
- Don't be precious with your drawings-- put down lines quickly
- Color is allowed, but keep things simple for now
IMPORTANT NOTE::: In the HEADER of your blogpost, please mark crit-welcomed posts with a "C" (crits) and non-welcomed posts with a "NC" (no-crits)
RESOURCES/ INSPIRATIONAL IMAGERY:

bucks county impressionism painting complete
I've been working on an impressionist painting in oils this February, and I finally finished it! Gonna give it a few days to dry before picking out a frame and delivering it to my boss's shop. Whoot!
I apologize for the shitty picture quality. Will take a better photo in the future.

Revamping my site
I've recently learned a lot, yey learning! So I decided to use the technology and redo my site, as nice as it is, to have a CMS such as wordpress, Its not necessary when you can code something yourself, so I decided to revamp! I've attached two images, the old one and the new one, but if you click on them you'll see working versions (the new one is not complete yet content wise) but I'd love some reactions.

I do plan on working on the monthly prompt! I promise! Finding time (maybe its more so finding a concept that is unique-ish haha!)

Update!! February Prompt 2011!
All right all right people! Too long of a Hiatus on my part, so let's get this ball rolling again, yeah?
Again, Feel FREE to post anything you'd like, it doesn't have to be related to the monthly prompt. I'd love to see some more artwork up here.
While I'm busy dusting off the cobwebs, let's give it up for this month's prompt!

Process.
I stumbled across this awesome video that shows the process of one artist going from first life drawing sketch to icongraphic form. I found it very cool and i figured since this was a process blog, this might be fitting.

mentally challenged gryffin -- WIP

Hey, for the monster mash prompt I decided to go with this awesome retarded gryffin monster. My friend and I were playing spore hero, and I was totally inspired to create a goofy looking monster of my own. He'd be the one in the background playing the tamborene because the band wants to be nice to him but doesn't trust him with any other instrument. He'd also be a trusty steed. Sort of like cat bus...but waaaay stupider. Reliable...but seriously stupid. Enjoy!
p.s.
yeah..he totally likes to lick dirt.

Photoshop Sketch

Normally when my neighbor leaves her outside light on it bugs the hell out of me. Tonight though, in all the rain, I saw a lovely play of lights on my window. I didn't have any cameras on hand that would be able to photograph it properly, so I decided to paint it in photoshop real quick before I lost it. Foliage was was taken from google, set to black and white. I used the 104 brush from the heavy brush pallet. I swear its my new favorite brush to use....

Oh...just felt like sharing. Really happy with this image. Did it in 15 minutes in flash. I love my new cintiq so much *sniffles*
I was so inspired by legend of the guardians. Please see it, if not for the content, then for the amazing work the animators put behind the visuals! The compositions and colors move a relatively cliche story at a new and exciting pace.
Top Secret Background

Wow, I kind of disapeared for a few months there. Awesome stuff everyone!
This is a BG I painted for a top secret super awesome project. Sorry for the bad image quality, I used photobooth (scanner temp out of commission). Otherwise the sky is a little brighter, heh. Did this in watercolors so it will be difficult to change anything (I can photoshop though and I can still add). I was wondering if you guys could let me know what you think? I could use a fresh set of eyes. Thanks!

WIPs
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I guess I was too lazy to post throughout. But it's probably best that I show this stuff because it's likely that more than half of it won't be finished in the future. At least it's proof that I've been practicing and that the work existed in some form at some point in time.
P.S. I'm also working on a flash pencil test that is relevant to this months category, but none of it looks recognizable enough to post at the moment. I may or may not finish that one...
