Just some quick sketches in Photoshop. I was thinking about doing Totem Spirits as real animals, taking an influence from real totems. Here are some of my references so far.

I love his expressions. the eyes are really strong! The way you designed makes that easy to control. I think the red kinda gets lost in his fur, I was thinking maybe an orange or a light green. but i love the character he's great!
ReplyDeleteWow that's cool never thought about an actual animal looking like a totem pole. Ummmm I don't have anymore feedback other than it's an intriguing idea.
ReplyDeleteis it for an image or an animation?
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's just a character design, aimed more towards animation, but it's just early work. I thought about the green, too Eman-- orange sounds like a good idea and yeah the red was bugging me too. =)
ReplyDeleteHe looks fun. I'm curious to know what kind of character he would be. He looks very expressive. A shorter snout suits him better than a longer one. I love the colored version without the outlines best, i think it would be a nice look for him. It makes me think of eric carle's work for some reason. *looks around for her scissors and paper*
