Look no further! Open Crits is now a WEEKLY DESIGN CHALLENGE that will push you to get back to your foundations to enforce well-rounded drawings. All artists are welcomed, though for now the assignments will be geared more toward animation-themed work.
Time to continue our challenges! This week is a bit of a twist! You've got no limit on the amount of pages to do this in, but I'd suggest do more than one!
Figure draw only the clothes of people! Whatever position, attitude, height, weight, use their clothes to capture the figure-- A sort of "Invisible Man" figure drawing if you will! Go at it! This update got in a bit late, so the due date on this one is a week from today-- Friday the 23rd!
Also, for anyone who's doing the project, you don't have to upload, but I strongly encourage it-- helps me know people are actually taking the opportunity for serious, and makes me eager to pose new practices for you!
I spent about 35-40 minutes just being super loose, super fun with this piece. I also used got to use a few new brushes I hadn't previously used. So overall im happy. I think its a bit fun, but doesn't completely make sense... meh it was for fun haha!!

SNOW MEN/ SNOW CREATURES!
So for whatever your forte in art is, try it out! Don't be afraid to get as crazy as you want, or as traditional-- It's all acceptable! If anyone is feeling confused or can't remember the guidelines, feel free to check out the FAQ secction once more!
Howdy folks! It's been a while, hasn't it? Well-- I decided the lapse in absence and the general deterioration of the group weren't going to keep me away! So-- I'm upping the anti with challenges meant to get you folks stretching those art-muscles.
There will be sets of challenges to come, focusing on specific goals to "retrain" yourself or simply keep yourself limber, in a drawing sense. The major focus of the next few weeks will be on Life drawing, pushing drawing volume and weight in forms, and loosening up the way you draw-- Getting away from "Classical standards" than can freeze up your drawing senses.
LIFE DRAWING CHALLENGE: WEEK 1
Let's start out a little simpler, getting those muscles working. Your task: Life draw/ figure draw everyday this week, filling up at LEAST one page for each day. 3 figures a page MINIMUM.
Criteria to remember in your drawings:
Full bodies
DON'T hide hands and Feet
DON'T draw any figure for longer than 3 minutes-- these are GESTURES
Focus on the feeling of the pose-- Action words/verbs are great to use to get a sense.
No "head shots" --again, Full bodies!
Clothing is optional-- Life draw/ figure draw wherever. In class or out of Class, but no pornography.
Allow yourself to exaggerate proportions
Don't be precious with your drawings-- put down lines quickly
Color is allowed, but keep things simple for now

I've been working on an impressionist painting in oils this February, and I finally finished it! Gonna give it a few days to dry before picking out a frame and delivering it to my boss's shop. Whoot!

I've recently learned a lot, yey learning! So I decided to use the technology and redo my site, as nice as it is, to have a CMS such as wordpress, Its not necessary when you can code something yourself, so I decided to revamp! I've attached two images, the old one and the new one, but if you click on them you'll see working versions (the new one is not complete yet content wise) but I'd love some reactions.
I do plan on working on the monthly prompt! I promise! Finding time (maybe its more so finding a concept that is unique-ish haha!)
So I'm working on this client logo and since i have time (ghasp! this never happens) before i told the client I'd get him some concepts I'd like to get a little feed back from you guys. I'm not exactly sure which direction he wanted stylistically so I'm just shooting from the hip here.
